Forty-eight survivors of a plane crash on a deserted island struggle to survive and adapt…but the island appears to harbor a mysterious secret, as do each of the survivors. Now in its fifth season, several of Lost‘s survivors have become trapped in the year 1977, living on the island with the Dharma Initiative. Other survivors are on the island as well, but in the present day. Flashbacks show pieces of the individual’s lives and explain their motivations.
The violence on Lost may be too frightening for children. In one recent episode, Sayid fought several men, one of whom was impaled by upended knives in a dishwasher. The same episode showed many of the survivors being killed by a flaming arrow attack. In one flashback, a character is violently choked to death and then hung from ceiling beams to make the murder appear to be a suicide.
This season’s sexual content has been infrequent, though in one episode it is implied that the characters Jack and Kate have sex. In another episode, a character is shown lying in bed, where it is implied she is naked beneath the sheets. Language is of minor concern and is usually limited to the words “hell” and “damn.”
Due to its violent and sexual content, Lost is not recommended for viewers under age 14.
